Project Description

Objectives

1)     Developing best practice strategies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of access to European dementia care systems.

2)     Developing country-specific recommendations for the implementation of best practice strategies for access to formal dementia care.

3)     Achieving consensus among the participating countries on the recommendations.

Description

This work package will identify best practice strategies that are likely to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of access to European dementia care systems, based on the outcomes of WP2, WP3, and WP4. These results will give valuable insight into the barriers and facilitators for accessing formal care, and form the input for the development of models to overcome inequalities in access to dementia care across Europe. Recommendations for best practice models regarding access to health and social care for people with dementia and their carers will be produced. The best overall practice strategies will probably be common to all participating countries, but the way they are implemented will vary due to differences in public and private care systems. Therefore, both general and country specific recommendations for best practices will be identified.
